Hardscrabble Ranch is centrally located in the Bridger Mountains and provides outdoor enthusiasts with a heap of opportunities for your Montana getaway. We are a ten-minute drive to Bridger Bowl’s legendary skiing, and seven minutes to Crosscut Mountain Sports Center, a premier Nordic skiing center. Crosscut allows fat tire bikes in the winter and is a training center for world-class biathletes. Snowmobilers can be at the Fairy Lake access trails in under ten minutes. Snowshoeing and backcountry skiing opportunities surround us.

Summer Activities
Many summer groups stay with us on their way to or from nearby Yellowstone National park.
During the warmer months, our property has its own network of mountain biking and hiking trails, and we are just two miles from the start (or finish) of the Bangtail Divide, one of Montana’s top-rated mountain bike rides. Trails throughout the Bridgers and at Crosscut are easily accessible. For fishermen, our property has stream front access to Brackett Creek, and we are close to dozens of legendary streams and rivers.
Nearby
While many of the groups who come to Hardscrabble like being away from the clutter of their daily lives, some also like that we are only a thirty-minute drive to Bozeman or Livingston. Browsing the shops or grabbing a bite to eat is a pleasure in either town.
We seek to help all our guests plan their time with us in the mountains during their Montana getaway. We can help make recommendations for guides, gear rental shops, naturalists, or just great trails to explore.

On-Site Activities
Not all our guests come for adventure. We have hammocks around the property, comfortable chairs for reading, and gardens, barns, and animals that animate the most simple walk. Internet access is limited, but available. Most folks appreciate unplugging.
We do take s’more roasting and corn-hole tournaments pretty seriously. Just saying.
